A dysregulated nervous system rarely announces itself. It simply becomes the air you breathe, the new normal.
Here are five signs it may be asking for support:
1. You feel exhausted but can't fully rest. Sleep doesn't restore you. Stillness feels uncomfortable. Your body has forgotten how to be quiet.
2. Small things feel overwhelming. A noise, a request, a notification, and suddenly you are flooded. Your window of tolerance has narrowed.
3. You overthink everything, especially at night. The mind keeps watch when the body cannot feel safe enough to release.
4. You feel disconnected from yourself. Numb, blurry, going through the motions. A protective survival response when there is more than the system can hold.
5. Your body shows it before you notice. Tight shoulders. Clenched jaw. Stomach in knots. The body always speaks first.
If any of these resonate, it is not weakness. It is biology. And the most loving response is not to push harder, but to begin restoring safety inside your system. Gentle breath, regulated co-regulation, somatic practices, and held space. These are not luxuries. They are the foundation of emotional wellness.
